We have a tall grassy area near our house on the Detroit River. The red-wing blackbirds make this their home every summer. Friday afternoon, I saw and heard the first one of the season. He flew back and forth from our bird feeder to the grasses all afternoon. The next day, we saw a half dozen more and two days later, there were at least a dozen.
