| Over the entire winter robins have been coming to my yard to bathe and hunt for berries and worms, both of which are available. So far I have not heard a single bird singing yet the overall numbers seem to be declining. My sister reports she saw a robin in Wichita, KS 2 weeks ago already. Because I am a Federally permited bird bander, on 2/21/13 I decided to put up a mistnet in my yard to see what I might catch since there was quite a bit of overall bird activity. I caught a lovely adult female robin. Recently I had a partial leucistic robin. I tried to get photos but it would not turn around to shaw all the white on the back. A friend also got a photo of a partial leucistic robin on a farm near Ormond which showed more on the face. So you know what to look for, I placed the band on the LEFT leg of my robin. Usually we band on the right leg. Keep an eye out! | |||
