Design and Build Magnet-Shaped Gardens
Charleston, SC
Fall 2009
Six
third grade classes planted their tulips on Friday, January
8, 2010 at St. Andrew's School of Math and Science in Charleston,
SC (USA). Science enrichment teacher, Ms. Livingston with third
grade teachers worked with 125 third graders and parent volunteers
to prepare the garden soil and plant bulbs. They planted 150
Red Emperor tulip bulbs in their "Magnet Park" outdoor
area.
The
150 tulip bulbs were planted in two small gardens shaped
like magnets in their school yard called "Magnet
Park." They "recycled" some broken cement
sidewalk pieces around our school to create borders for
the gardens.
Students
were excited about the project, "Our gardens look
beautiful! We can't wait to see our tulips bloom!" |
