How are people and monarchs using the forest?
This is a satellite view of the edge of the El Rosario monarch butterfly sanctuary in Mexico. The small color photo is a picture of a monarch butterfly colony as seen from a helicopter. The butterflies make the trees look orange! Look carefully at the large red rectangle. It shows where the monarch colony was located on the day that the picture was taken.

Scientists are concerned about deforestation (the clearing of a forest by people). In this week's update, see how a satellite and a high-powered camera can help scientists protect the forest for people and monarchs.
