Do you see the bands on the chick's legs? The colors will forever identify her as W-1, or the first wild chick hatched in the eastern flock. Experts who banded her learned from the chick's DNA that she is a female.

After a week away, the family came back to their territory on the refuge. Here they are, feeding and foraging on September 24, 2006. The missing chick still has not been seen since September 12. Where is it?
