Here They Come!
On April 9 came exciting news from biologist Wayne Perryman at Point Piedras Blancas, California, a scientific survey site and Post #8 on our migration route map:

"Today we had our first northbound gray whale cow/calf pairsighting of the season. They passed within 100 meters of the sighting station and we got a great look at the head of the calf. With all the little indentations in the baby's head it looked much like a little grey pickle." —Wayne Perryman: Leader, Cetacean Health and Life History Program
