"Diego," A Whale in San Diego Harbor

Diego the whale is apparently extending his stay in San Diego Bay. The U.S. Coast Guard said the wayward gray whale was spotted three times in the bay Sunday [March 29, 2009].

The whale, nicknamed Diego, was also seen near the Coronado Bay Bridge.
Experts say the whale appears healthy. It apparently took a wrong turn from the ocean into the bay nearly three weeks ago.

The Coast Guard has been warning boaters to stay at least 100 yards away from Diego.

UPDATE: The whale stayed about three weeks and then left.
