Questions About Gray Whale Migration Data

How have numbers changed during the past week at each site?

Write a statement that compares whales total calves counted at Gray Whales Count at their season's end for the past three years:

2008 59
2007 52
2006 119

REMINDER: Michael H. Smith of Gray Whales Count says, "Our location in the Channel puts us in a good position to provide a check for Wayne Perryman's counting station at Piedras Blancas (#8).Mr. Perryman sees more mothers and babies than we do because of his locale. He also spends more hours per day counting. However, our sampled numbers should graph in a similar manner."

Bonus Challenge: In 2005, Alisa Schulman-Janiger, Director of the ACS/LA census, noted that mothers and calves begin migrating about six weeks after the peak of northbound non cow/calf whales. Review the ACS-LA data for this season to answer: Was that true for 2008? Explain.
