The loon's eyes keep warm because they have transparent eyelids. Loons
have a thick rubber-like material to keep their legs and feet warm.
They also have few blood vessels at the surface of the foot, so less
heat is wasted. Their beak is also made of a bone like material, so it
doesn't get cold as easily.
