Dry Latex Paint

Paint can contain many different compounds. The environmental problems presented by these compounds vary depending on whether the paint is oil-based or latex-based. Some paint contains toxic ingredients that can pollute groundwater, such as petrochemicals, alkyd solvents, and acrylic or vinyl resins. Older paints may contain mercury and lead, which were banned in the 1960s.
