Interactives -- DNA

Genetic Engineering : Translation

DNA and messenger RNA, or mRNA, work together to make proteins, the cell's building blocks. Messenger RNA gets the information it needs from DNA through transcription, which was explained earlier. After the messenger RNA has the information it needs, another molecule, called transfer RNA, or tRNA, carries amino acids to a part of the cell called the ribosome. There, the protein chain starts to grow by having amino acids match up with three-letter codes of bases, which are found on the messenger RNA. This process continues until the protein chain is complete.
