Evaluating Connections
Make a Lesson Plan | Summing Up the Session | Final Journal

So, what have we done in this session?

  • In Part A, you observed the connections in an exponential functions problem tackled by a high school class.
  • In Part B, you explored your own mathematical connections as you worked with the Interest Calculator activity.
  • In Part C, you read about a variety of elements of the Connections Standard and developed a working definition of connections.
  • In Part D, you applied what you had learned in the session so far by solving the Falling Objects problem, watching students work on it, and thinking about how you would teach it.
  • In Part E, you wrote your own lesson plan as a way to evaluate what you've learned.

Throughout this session, we saw that connections can help students develop a deeper understanding of mathematics and expand their awareness of the usefulness of mathematics.

Now you have an opportunity to reflect on this session and to communicate some of your thoughts and observations in your journal. This final journal entry will mark your completion of the session.
