Use the processes learned in this session to plan a lesson for one of your classes. Remember that students can communicate about mathematics using words, pictures symbols, tables and functions. They can work individually, in pairs, in small or large groups, or as a whole class. Include information about the following in your lesson plan.
- How might you assess student knowledge from written and oral communications?
- How might you evaluate the effectiveness of your teaching from students' communications?
- How does class set-up affect student-to-student and student-to-teacher communication?
Or you may use a task related to an area of mathematics that your class has begun to study or select one of the samples Learning Math courses.
After you have created your lesson plan, use the Classroom Checklist (an Adobe PDF document) to evaluate it.
