Yes it has to be postmarked by Friday. I plan to talk about how the
standards are achieved through collaborative learning and perforamance
tasks.
If you haven't taken it yet, the Insights into Algebra I is another
fantastic workshop.
This summer I'll be taking Functions & Patterns.
I am anxious to implement a number of the activities we have seen. On days
when I have resorted to class lecture and guided practice, I am so keenly
aware of the general apathy on the part of students. How I have to repeat
questions, prompts, directions. They just aren't engaged. When I did a
recent activity to demonstrate direct variation, they were actively engaged
and enjoying the period. One student said, "wow class went by so fast".
It is a far superior way of teaching.
