Sample Play

Begin with the randomly selected fraction card 7/8:

Randomly selected fraction card

Consider two or three possible moves and then decide which move would be best. Remember, there may be more than one way to reach 1, so consider different options before you move. Once you have reached a decision, record your reasoning. When you're ready, observe some of the possible moves for this play.

Tip: One strategy is to first place markers on the fractions that have only one value. For example, you would want to place a marker on 1/8 before placing a marker on 2/8, because 2/8 also equals 1/4 and thus gives you more options for moves. By not placing a marker on 2/8 at this point, you ensure more flexibility later in the game.
