After reading a book, The Doorbell Rang to her class and discussing how to make portions smaller and smaller when more animals want a share, Ms. Kincaid posed a question about sharing 12 cookies among eight children. In the following video segment (duration 5:01), you can watch her students work with this problem.


As you watch, think about how the students are approaching the problem and how your own students would tackle this task. What problem-solving strategies do you observe?
