AdS/CFT Duality

The AdS/CFT duality is a concrete example of holography, which suggests that all the information about the interior of some region is actually contained on the boundary. In AdS/CFT, a conventional particle theory, called a "conformal field theory," on the boundary corresponds to a string theory in Anti de Sitter space in the interior. The string theory includes gravity, and has one more dimension than the particle theory. (Unit: 4)
