Lux Detector PMTs

What Gaitskell hypothesizes is that occasionally one will have a very low energy interaction with one of the nuclei in the atoms of the liquid xenon. The nucleus recoils and emits scintillation light which we detect using photosensitive detectors at the boundaries of the container. The photosensitive detectors are photomultiplier tubes or PMTs. One hundred twenty-two of them will be arranged above and below the liquid.
