Five years later (see Image #106), the large beach house in Rodanthe, Hatteras Island, North Carolina Outer Banks, is now at the edge of surf the dune having been completely washed away by storms and increasing wave action and sea level rise; area losing 12 feet each year on average in this period of time (early 21st century).
