Next message: Alison Reid: "Re: [Channel-talklife] Guided Channel-Talk Postings: Session 1"
Hi Channel-Talkers!
Just a note to connect Essential Science to the news (and movies). What
about life on Mars? With the recent buzz about evidence for water on Mars,
how is this connected to life? Water isn't a characteristic that defines
life. Or is it? In the video, our Scientist At Work, Dr. Gary Ruvkun,
talks about what he proposed to look for. What do you think?
And, this morning, our Director of Outreach, Joyce Gleason, brought to my
attention the new movie "Dawn of the Dead". The radio promo has a character
who asks: Is it dead? And the response is "deadish". If you see the
movie, what's your assessment? What are they qualifying as "deadish"? What
would qualify this as a fourth category: living, dead, deadish, and
nonliving (just to have a little fun with classification)?
Hope the video for Program 2 is thought-provoking too!
Sue
