Hi Channel-Talkers!
It's great to see so many people online so far! I'm Sue, and I was
involved with development of this course.
One weekly homework activity actually involves Channel-Talk! Each week, in
the print materials relevant for each session, there are one or more
questions asked as a "Guided Channel-Talk Posting" activity. In addition to
the types of open conversations you're having already, these questions are
meant to get colleagues talking about the topic as it relates to their
classrooms. I'll post these, and hope that they will stimulate some
productive exchanges (and, of course, we here would love to see what you
have to say as an assessment of our effectiveness!)
Here's the question for Session 1: What is Life?
The answer to the question "What is life?" has applications at many grade
levels. How does the question "What is life?" apply to the science
curriculum in your classroom? Are some characteristics of life more
appropriate than others for the students you teach? In this Channel-Talk
posting, share your experiences, opinions, and ideas for teaching about this
topic with your colleagues.
