- When will the satellite feed end?
Midnight, ET, on Tuesday, September 30, 2008.
- What can we do with the programs we have recorded from the satellite feed?
Any entity that has a valid Annenberg Channel license may continue to broadcast and cablecast the programs in accordance with the original license up until the program's broadcast expiration date. You may continue to air programs with the Annenberg Channel interstitial material, if you wish. After the program's broadcast expiration date, you no longer have rights to broadcast or cablecast it. You should check the list of program expiration dates.
Persons or agencies who have recorded the program from the satellite feed may keep and use (e.g., show in the classroom or in a professional development session) the programs for the life of the tape(s).
- How long will certificates of participation for use toward professional development credit be offered?
Groups of educators can register to receive certificates of participation until March 31, 2008. For those who have registered, certificates of participation will be issued through June 30, 2008. No certificates will be provided for those who register as individuals. After June 30, 2008, no certificates will be provided for group members.
- How can we get professional development credit for Annenberg workshops and courses without certificates of participation?
You should consult with your local school district (curriculum coordinator, department head, or principal) or state Department of Education to find out what would be required in order to obtain professional development credit.
- What else will change after September 30, 2008, in addition to the satellite feed being discontinued?
After September 30, 2008, there will no longer be staff in place to answer technical questions, take workshop or course registrations, provide certificates of participation, or provide information about running professional development workshops or courses. Information on some of these topics will be available at www.learner.org.
- Will graduate credit be available for Annenberg Media series beyond the Channel end date?
Colorado State University and Southern Oregon University will continue to offer graduate credit after September 30, 2008 to teachers completing the course requirements. To learn about graduate credit, how to register and what the requirements are, go to the graduate credit page.
- How can we access the programs after the September 30, 2008?
You may view any program via broadband stream now or after September 30, 2008. Channel licensees will maintain rights after September 30, 2008 to broadcast or cablecast programs that have been recorded up until their expiration date.
