Cliff,
Nobody (not even my parents) ever called me by my legal name... I'm Marty. Thanks for the idea about teleconferencing. Living and teaching in L.A. I find we have access to a range of terrific authors, but most want an honorarium for visitation. Understandable, but not generally possible.

Scheduling author visitations has gotten to be so very complicated and involved and requires too much advanced planning that teachers and librarians particularly at the secondary level have stopped attempting. I have found that live presentations might better be addressed through teleconferencing as I have done at this school on a couple of instances. (as far away as Spain and France). Also in the state of Wisconsin there is available to the teaching community a source called “Teaching Books.Net” where we have available “Author Up-Close”(watch original, in-studio movies of authors and illustrators), “Book Guides”(Obtain discussion guides for thousands of books—K-12) and more.

I have not explored “Teaching Books.Net” as thoroughly as I need to—busy with teaching, studying, librarying, etc.
