I thought there were several times that students were recording data in lab
notebooks...In fact, I was considering my own practice and how I could
change it. In my AP class, students record all of their data, lab
information, etc, in a notebook. My first year students, however, record
their data on a lab handout. I was wondering if I should have the first
year kids keep a lab notebook as well. Does anyone have thoughts on the
positives and negatives for using lab notebooks with my first year group?

As I watch the video series, I do not see much evidence of teachers using
lab reports or lab notebooks. I have my students write at least one
formal lab report per unit of study. I"d like to know if the rest of you
use lab reports. I'd also like to know if any of you have creative ways
in which you have your students report their lab findings. I'm afraid
that my lab reports become tedious creatures to the students by the end of
the year. I'd love to hear your ideas on how to refresh this old practice!
