This is an example of a "pairs check share" cooperative
activity. This one uses balancing equations, but this type
of activity is great when you're teaching anything
involving problem solving. The key is sufficient structure
so students can show they have checked each other's work.
I've also included a self-evaluation students can complete
and hand in after the activity; it works best when students
know what social behaviors are expected in advance. This
can be a useful way to monitor student progress.
