| Certificates of Participation |
 |
Those taking our workshops and courses as part of a group may receive a Certificate of Participation as documentation for their work if the facilitator registered on or before March 31st, 2008 for the group. Please note that in order to receive a certificate, you MUST participate as part of a group, since we are unable to validate the work of those working alone.
Certificates will be mailed within the month after your group completes the course and the online attendence roster showing the number of sessions attended by each participant is received from the facilitator.
Certificates of Participation are issued by the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and are usually for 16 to 33 professional development hours (PDF), depending on the workshop or course. The number of professional development hours awarded is based on the length and number of sessions comprised of video, discussion, and activities. Most workshops provide 16 hours, if all sessions are attended; courses award 21-33 hours, depending on the course. The number of professional development hours noted on your certificate will reflect the number of sessions you attended. You may receive up to a maximum of 54 professional development hours per semester.
Note that your state and/or district will always have the final say as to the value of these certificates. Please contact them in advance to make sure you and your group receive credit for work completed during a workshop or course.
