Now that we've discussed the Communication Standard in some detail, we'd like you to write about it. Read the following questions and answer one in light of the students and content you teach.
Questions to write and reflect about:
- For most of us, group work, writing about mathematics, or making classroom presentations is very different from our own experiences as mathematics students. Is this true for you? What role does your past experience play in how you view communication in your classroom today?
- How would you explain to a skeptical parent or an individual the usefulness of communication in helping children make sense of mathematics?
- As you think about your own classroom and the Communication Standard, what do you feel successful about? What would you like to do differently? How might you go about it? What obstacles will you need to navigate, and how will you address them?

Be sure to save what you have written before you navigate out of the journal section.
