Now we'll look at another problem, which was developed for a fourth-grade class. Below is a collection of shapes, some of which can be grouped in a number of different ways:


Collection of Shapes

1. Think of a way to group some of these shapes, and write down a phrase for this grouping method.


2. Draw a picture of every shape that fits in this category.


3. Write a sentence explaining why the shapes all belong in this category.


4. Repeat for at least three categories.
