Promoting the Channel

We can help you promote the Annenberg Channel to your audiences with a news release and other documents, downloadable from this page. We urge you and your institution to promote your use of the Channel both internally and externally.

Promoting internally

Share all the information you have about the Channel with fellow department members in your particular discipline.

Share information with the principal and other supervisors within your school, and with the superintendent and other authorities within your district. Be sure to direct all parties to this Web site, so they can see how the Channel is being used elsewhere.

Be sure to talk to your media or telecommunications center, to learn if they have regular ways of making announcements through bulletins or newsletters. These can help you get the word out.

Be sure to talk to your staff development person, or, if you work at the college level, with those who are in charge of your teacher education courses.

Call us if you think we can offer you advice, or may have other tools you need to get the word out. We can’t create special documents for you, but we may be able to point you in the right direction.

Promoting externally

Download our "news release" electronically (PDF format), fill in the blanks, and send it to your local or regional newspaper. It’s usually best to mail it to the "education" or "metro" editor, and follow the mailing up with a phone call.

Take word of your use of the Channel and its programming to school board, PTA, and PTO meetings, and back-to-school nights. Show off a video clip from your favorite programming. The public will be pleased to learn of your partnership with Annenberg Media, and pleased to know that you’re receiving our programming at no cost.

In all your communications, share the news about how you’re using Channel programming to custom-fit your local purposes.
Call us if you think we can help you reach out to your larger audiences. We can’t engage in a P.R. campaign for you, but we are glad to speak with local press when schools and other agencies that have licensed the Channel make the invitation.
