Teacher TalkForum: Looking at Learning... Again, Part 2Topic: Standards and concept coverageTopic Posted by: Clinton Kennedy (ckennedy@uidaho.edu )Organization: Cascade High School Date Posted: Fri Apr 7 11:55:45 US/Eastern 2000 Topic Description: I was very reassured after watching the 1st video, Behind the Design, to see that teaching a few concepts in depth is probably better for the students than trying to hit all the topics demanded by the standards. We are facing exit tests with legislated concepts to be taught and tested. I have dreaded the day I have to try to hit all the concepts and teach nothing in detail. Does anyone have any hard evidence they can share that supports the claim that depth is better than breadth that I can use.
