| Event | Monarch Migration Sighting |
| Date of Sighting | 08/10/01 |
| Comments | Yesterday (8/10/01) we
counted over 400 monarchs on the morning monitoring route at Peninsula Point, and on the afternoon route census 741 were
counted. In the evening there were less than 100 monarchs flying around the
picnic area where monarchs often aggregate.
Today (8/11/01) there were few monarchs in the picnic area, but more were
seen nectaring on spotted knapweed and burdock along the road to Peninsula
Point. Peninsula Point, Hiawatha National Forest is located in Delta County, MI about 18 miles south of Highway 2. It is the southern tip of the Stonington Peninsula in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Contributed to Monarch Watch |
