| Comments | Our third cold front has come through, and with it hundreds of monarch butterflies. Our students have watched them all day on the track, flying south. We are excited about this sighting. Another cool front is due Sunday, 24th. Every year we have noticed the butterflies come on about the 3rd or 4th cool front. We had a little cool front the 14th, our 2nd front, and on Saturday and Sunday (9/16 & 9/17) we spotted "scout" monarchs. Our temperatures dropped to high 80's and low 90's during the day, night temps have been in 60's and 70's. It is always exciting to spot the first "scouts" of the season, because we know the rest will be here soon. |
