| Comments | Hi!
This afternoon the temperature in the sun was close to 80 degrees
F and the winds were very strong from the west. In a vacant field full of red clover , goldenrod and New Englands asters , I
spotted at least 8-10 monarchs fuelling up on nectar for their journey south. Two weeks ago I took a young larva back to Toronto
for my science class to watch metamorphosis. On Friday morning,Sept 15th the monarch emerged and my city kids were
stunned at the transformation. I transported the monarch back home Friday night and released him Sat SEpt 16th morning. After
he warmed up and met another monarch he took flight at 11:00 am.
My 4 classes are going to try and send symbolic monarchs .. they
are enjoying the challenge. Thanks for the updates..!! L. Chipps |
