| Comments | The monarch migration is well underway in northeast MS. I counted 63 monarchs between 9:30am and 11:15am today. They were observed from the West bank of the Tenn-Tom Waterway near Peppertown, MS. Weather conditions were sunny with temps in the 70's with E-SE winds near 10 mph. Monarchs were moving W-SW at heights form 5 to 40 feet up. Wing conditions were bright. Some of the monarchs were flying in small groups one after the other. Later this afternoon monarchs were seen flying SW at tree top level. Their bright orange wings backlit by the sun against the blue autumn sky was a wonderful sight. Happy Monarch Watching. |
