| Comments | This morning at about 10:30 in Washingtonville, NY at Taft Elem. School, my 2nd grade class, as well as that of Mrs. Hawes, saw over 60 monarchs in 10-15 minutes fly over our school's parking lot and building. Some were almost close enough to touch. They came by 1's, 2's and 3's, and we had a wonderful time counting them. The children were SO EXCITED (as were the teachers!) that I'm sure we nicely disturbed many of the classes who were trying to work with their windows open! Word spread throughout our building, and other classes came out to enjoy the marvelous spectacle, one that I myself had never witnessed before. All were headed in a southerly direction. It was in the high 60's, sunny and a light breeze was blowing. All in all it was a spectacular 1st Day of Fall for all of us! |
