| Comments | Literally hundreds of south-going monarchs sighted today on the upper west side of Manhattan. I first noticed one out my kitchen window over the roof of the neighboring brownstone. Walking west on W. 92nd street, say at least 20 gliding and flying southerly. Went on into Riverside Park and couldn't count accurately, but guess sometimes as many as 20 in five minutes. All were bright in color, and moving along nicely. At least 100 were having a nectar meal at the neighborhood flower garden in Riverside Park in the 80's. What a joy to have been there! |
