| Comments | We drove along the Platte River near Grand Island, Nebraska, and saw about 3,000 Sandhill Cranes in the fields. We looked with binoculars but didn't see any Whooping Cranes. They cranes were spending the afternoon in the grass meadows near the river. We didn't see any in the corn fields. All the ice is gone from the river and the ponds. The river was also covered with hundreds of geese and ducks. The people at the Crane Meadow headquarters said the migration is just getting started. |
