I am a full time stay at home senior with a love of the outdoors, animals and people. I retired to Gowganda , my childhood home because I am a Northerner at heart and enjoy a quiet life in a house with a great view of the lake and also just feet from the forest.
We have had a winter to remember! There is nearly 3 ft. of snow in the Forest. That is very deep. In some places our friend pushed his ski pole down into the snow and just the tip showed.
It started snowing in November and the temperatures were cold as well. There were very few days of sunshine in between where one could just relax and enjoy the day. BUT, then on Thursday (2/13) the sun came out at its strongest yet. It was warm enough for me to go out on the deck on the South side of the house in just my sweater and sweep up some seed shells. The roads too are getting the Spring look…dark snow banks and melting snow.
Although I did see a robin last week , it wasn’t in Gowganda so, I will predict robins around March 24th..and one singing around the 14th. of April. When do YOU think I'll see my first robin?
