| Comments | I live in Central PA (in Centre County) and have only seen 8 or 10 Monarchs in our gardens all summer. Generally, from late July through late September, we see 6 to 10 Monarchs every day! This year, as I said, we've only seen 8 or 10 all summer. I wonder if Monarchs were not able to rebound in number after so many of them were lost to the storm in Mexico. I have talked to teachers in numerous states that were unable to find Monarch larvae for their classroom rearing projects this year. And some of those teachers said that they have found larvae every year for the past 25 or 30 years. I'm worried!!!---and anxiously awaiting the return of Monarchs to Mexico so we can see what the extimated counts are like there. Contributed to Monarch Watch Migration Highlight |
