| Comments | I have been collecting eggs and larva again this season in the milkweed patches growing in my yard. The first sightings of adults were about 1 month later than last year. There were considerably fewer numbers this year.
My 24 third grade students have each had a larva to care for to adulthood. We released a total of 4 adults this past week. Three were males and one was a female. Most of the collected larvae are in the chrysalis stage now.
I have had an unusual happening in the last week, though. I have begun to find 1st stage instars again in my milkweed. What is happening? Isn't the season almost over? Will these adults be able to migrate successfully to Mexico? Migration Highlight |
