| Comments | I am counting monarchs roosting in my yard again this year. Unfortunately, it
doesn't take long to count them. The numbers are way down. Through Sep. 1st, I have had only five monarchs in the trees, where last year, I had 177. (See graph below.) I have another spot I go to tag monarchs that will normally have hundreds to thousands of butterflies. So far this year, I have only seen two small clusters of about 30 - 40 butterflies. I am hoping that there are more to come, but all indications are that the numbers are way down.
