| Comments | What an exciting weekend! I live in Chapel Hill, NC, but I went to the beach last weekend and saw migrating Monarchs! I was SO surprised. I had no idea they migrated along the beach. I was standing at the pier watching fishermen catch hundreds of "spots", and a Monarch caught my eye. Then I noticed another one, and another. I realized they were drifting along the beach, south towards the point. The wind was from the Northeast. Could it be? YES! I stood at the pier and counted 60 in ten minutes! For the rest of the weekend, I enjoyed the water, the dolphins, the beautiful sunny weather, and the countless Monarchs that continued to drift by my balcony. I never thought I would be so fortunate! The only Monarchs I had seen where I live were the ones we raised here at Glenwood School. SO exciting!Migration Highlight |
