| Event | Monarch Migration Sighting |
| Date of Sighting | 10/18/03 |
| Comments | I was on a barrier island 10 miles off the coast of Mississippi yesterday, and Monarchs, carried by a strong N wind, were going by about 2 a minute. The day was sunny, in the 80s, and with little humidity. There were a few bushes in bloom on this glorified sand bar, and they were covered by Gulf Fritillaries and Monarchs. Spectacular! The name of the barrier island is West Ship Island (in the Gulf Islands National Seashore). The ferry is out of Gultport, Mississippi, which seemed a pretty straight shot out. Migration Highlight |
