| Event | Monarch Migration Sighting |
| Date of Sighting | 10/03/03 |
| Comments | Friday was the first day that we have seen the monarchs coming through our yard at a steady rate - approximately one per minute. Temperatures in the low 60s. Sunny with a slight breeze from the south. Elizabethton is near the northeast corner of TN about 100 miles east of Knoxville. We had a great year here for caterpillars, but the migration seems to have eluded us. I've been to a nearby spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway several times where we've seen them in past years. Lots of red admirals and common buckeyes coming through, but not the monarchs. Looks like they've chosen another path.
