| Event | Monarch Migration Sighting |
| Date of Sighting | 09/28/03 |
| Comments | We have had our best flights of the season over the last week. The push began on September 28 and has continued through October 6. A cold front went through on Sunday, October 28th and we had our first large push of monarchs Sunday PM and Monday. Of note . . . the first four weeks of our road census resulted in the lowest numbers of monarch observed (average numbers of monarchs per hour) since beginning the census in 1991.
The Monarch Monitoring Project (Cape May Bird Observatory/New Jersey Audubon) in Cape May, NJ is conducting its 14th year of research and education. Road Census data (sampling migrant monarch numbers along the mid-Atlantic coast) through week 5 is now posted on our website. Details of our project may also be found on the website. We hope to see you in Cape May . . . enjoy the migration. Dick Walton, Director MMP Migration Highlight |
