| Comments | This afternoon I found numbers of monarchs almost entirely on New
England Aster. This is a change from days ago, when all of the monarchs
seen were nectaring on goldenrod, exclusively. Tagged about 150 in two
hours - best numbers we've seen since the migration began. Our field
closest to Lake Erie had hundreds and hundreds of monarchs. The field 3
or 4 miles inland had many fewer. Overall, we are seeing higher numbers
here in far western New York State than we have seen in many years of
tagging.
