| Event | Monarch Migration Sighting |
| Date of Sighting | 10/11/02 |
| Comments | I live in Nocona Texas and this morning went to Wichita Falls. I drive HWY 82 West and merged onto HWY 287 North in Henrietta. It was overcast until I got there at 9:45am today, Friday Oct. 11th. The road changes directions getting to W.F. where it was sunny.
THE MONARCHS ARE MIGRATING! They were heading South and not flying high enough so lots were being hit by cars, mine included. At 70 mph you just can't get out of the way! I would say at least 10 per minute for about ten miles. Tuesday 1 1/4 inch rain temps 57 low/59 high. Wed. 57/60 high humidity. Thur. 54/65 very overcast, high humidity (100%) most of day. I had three in my driveway when I came home. W.F. is 50 miles West of me. Hope I've given you enough info, if not please contact me. I have only had one migration here in 7 years where there were thousands per second , truthfully, flying in herds across my property. |
