In addition to good migration of raptors observed, "Another highlight for the day was (and I'm not exaggerating) 1000's of Monarchs on the move. At one point Keith was counting 60-70 Monarchs a minute crossing our line of sight and down along the willows behind us to the west. The sheer number of butterflies became even more evident as the storm front moved in and the Monarchs flitted enmass all around us to get into the willow trees for cover right behind us. Quite a sight indeed!"

"Weather: An interesting day for weather...started out with light SW winds and still farily warm temperatures to 26 C. Around 1:00 PM (EST) a series of very black clouds moved past just north of the cliff. We actually got a few minutes of rain and then back into the sunshine. At this point however the winds had swung around to the NW and became very strong and gusty to 40 kph."
