| Event | Monarch Migration Sighting |
| Date of Sighting | 08/24/02 |
| Comments | I spent the past 9 days in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario. Daytime temps topped at 75-80
degrees F with full sun and winds generally from the north. I was pleasantly surprised to see dozens of migrating monarchs each day of the week. They were in fact the most abundant butterfly species in the park. and all were engaging in directional flight. Nectar sources included goldenrod in peak bloom, boneset, Joe-Pye weed, and many asters. Common milkweed (in seed) was also plentiful in many areas of the park. One last instar monarch caterpillar was found on milkweed. (Averaging date on 8/29/02 as 8/24/02)Migration Highlight |
