| Comments | Last year I had 2,950 butterflies roost in my yard up to 8/27/01 and had tagged 550. This year I have had a total of 88 Monarchs roost in my yard and have tagged 58 of those. The most on
any one night this year is 58 versus 900 last year.
I tagged my first Monarchs on August 23rd. I had 20 butterflies roost in my yard and tagged 11. To this date last year I had about 2200 roost in my yard and had tagged 400. The numbers sure seem way down this year. I keep hoping that the migration is late and there will be a "surge" of butterflies coming. Probably wishful thinking. |
